Job Summary

The position of Plant Manager is responsible for directing, coordinating, and managing the overall facility operation in conjunction with the customer's production requirements. Ensure facility production objectives are achieved at the lowest cost consistent with IATF16949 quality requirements. Delegate production leadership responsibilities to achieve the desired objectives set forth in the corporate business plan while maintaining compliance to Federal, State, and Local Safety and Environmental regulations and laws.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plant Operation
    • Coordinate with the operations manager in the execution of production schedules based on sales requirements and plant capacity.
    • Coordinate and communicate with leadership team and department managers in meeting production goals while focusing on continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
    • Schedule manufacturing activities based on customer releases to minimize inventory.
    • Ensure orders are released in chronological order (FIFO) unless circumstances dictate a change in customer needs.
    • Ensure all "work in process" is properly tagged in accordance with procedures and instructions.
    • Receive and review daily shift reports from leadership team and address areas of concern.
  • Ensure the production floor is well equipped, well maintained and efficiently designed
    • Per the IATF16949 requirements, ensure that production floor is equipped with proper work instructions and procedures to carry out production activities.
    • Ensure properly maintained equipment and appropriate trained personnel are available to carry out these activities.
    • Work with operations, program management, and process engineering teams to ensure new programs and process changes are implemented within designated launch plan requirements.
    • Support new program launches and engineer changes that may include floor layouts, staffing, quality and/or tooling requirements.
    • Provide continuous review of departmental processes to improve overall efficiencies.
    • Ensure facility management, making sure the facility meets all production operation requirements.
  • Adherence to established policies, processes and procedures
    • Work with leadership team to enforce written policies and procedures to ensure consistency and fairness while maintaining a healthy and safe work environment.
    • Review and approve recommendations of subordinates in matters of position changes and promotions.
    • Work with leadership team to identify and record any issues relating to process failures, policy or procedure violations, or quality system failures
    • When and where required, assist leadership team with attendance management, performance management and corrective action of employees.
  • Assist with implementation and compliance of all health, safety, environmental and quality control plans
    • Work with quality department to ensure adherence to the IATF16949 quality standards and corporate quality best practices.
    • Review and disposition of nonconforming products.
    • Assist in providing solutions to prevent reoccurrence.
    • Ensure consistency with implementation and adherence of the company health, safety and environmental policies and processes.
    • Ensure compliance with Federal, State and Local regulatory requirements such as OSHA, EPA, etc.
    • Be visible, assume leadership, and assist in developing and initiating an effective health and safety attitude. Participate and initiate in continuous safety training.


Qualifications

  • Education
    • Minimum Required: Associates Degree or Technical Accreditation
    • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Business Management Administration or equivalent
  • Experience
    • Minimum Required: 5+ years working in a production environment
    • 2+ years working in a manager or supervisory role in manufacturing/production environment
    • Preferred: 5+ years working in a managerial role in a manufacturing/production environment
  • Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License
  • Strong technical background and a general understanding of a manufacturing/production process
  • Fluent in English (verbal, reading, writing)
  • Must be team-oriented and have excellent communication, organizational and computer literacy skills
  • Requires a high level of professionalism and strong work ethic
  • Preferred: Familiarity with TS16949 or IATF 16949, Quality Audits, and Environmental Management System and OSHA Requirements


Working Conditions

The following working conditions are present or expected on a daily basis:

  • Manufacturing/production floor environment with a presence on the production floor required for at least 50% of daily work time.
  • Frequent exposure to industrial manufacturing, automotive vehicles, weather elements, chemicals and robotics.
  • Personal protective equipment must be worn at all times on the production floor.
