Job Description: Plant Manager

Job Status: Salary

FLSA Status: Exempt

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, Weekends

Reports To: Regional Director of Operations

Travel Required: 10-20%

Relocation: Required

Positions Supervised: Scheduler, Maintenance Supervisor, QC Supervisor, others as required.

POSITION SUMMARY

Directs all production activities including supervision of department managers engaged in manufacturing, transferring, treating, loading, unloading, storing, and distribution of treated wood products. Maintain environmental and safety compliance at all times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Ensure safety and environmental compliance is the number one priority.
  • Ensure quality is maintained during the production process.
  • Ensure all yard activities are accomplished in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Manage inventory to achieve company goals.
  • Manage budget efficiently and closely monitor labor costs.
  • Closely monitor maintenance responsibilities and projects.
  • Review performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing improvement.
  • Maintain productivity standards for all areas of processing.
  • Prioritize time and efforts to meet Hoover's revenue and profitability goals.
  • Analyze production processes to determine ways to increase efficiencies and reduce expenses.
  • Work with various departments of Hoover Treated Wood Products to ensure compliance with company policies and production standards.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, and evaluating employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Work closely with Human Resources to lead the team with integrity and to establish and maintain a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment
  • Maintain and enhance the facility by constantly making noticeable improvements.
  • Ensure all reporting is done in a timely manner and deadlines are met.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor degree required and/or a combination of five to ten years related education and experience.
  • Prior experience with OSHA and EPA regulations preferred.
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety regulation manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must have the ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with variables and situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Must be capable of interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to accept responsibility and accountability for his/her actions.
  • Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.
  • Ability to demonstrate behaviors conforming to Hoover's set of values and accepted standards.
  • Ability to influence others to perform their jobs effectively and to be responsible for making decisions.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Computer Skills

Be comfortable working within Google Drive programs, Windows based programs, using a word processor, and email. Must have a good knowledge of spread sheeting.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
