Lethbridge Plant Manager

About the Position
The Plant manager for the Lethbridge Animal Nutrition facility will be responsible for the daily oversight and continuous optimization of plant processes as well as the long term vision of operational strategies associated with a whole production complex. This facility has a workforce compromised of approximately 15 employees. The successful candidate will need to exhibit a mastery of the following responsibilities: safety, quality assurance, environmental compliance, production, reliability, supply chain, yield, cost management, capital discipline and colleague development. The candidate will need to be able to lead and encourage their direct reports to continue a business plan in progress at this facility.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Display a commitment, lead, participate and support ongoing safety initiatives.
  • Commit to and develop an engaged safety culture for all colleagues.
  • Direct the operation of the plant which includes safety and environmental compliance, manufacturing quality products, production, cost optimization, yield and sustainability.
  • Build a trusting relationship with all colleagues and recruit, manage and develop operations staff.
  • Oversee performance development for all salaried colleagues at the facility.
  • Oversight for capital projects including budget and timing.
  • Maintaining positive community relationship.
  • Provide solutions and promote teamwork amongst the various groups such as production, maintenance and engineering.
  • Active, hands-on involvement and daily presence within the facility.
  • Respond to and follow up on Customer complaints, while working alongside Commercial leadership to resolve issues.


Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A strong understanding of the process and the ability to implement change when necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills to provide guidance and feedback.
  • Results driven to provide support to achieve the goals established by the division.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage time and priorities, work independently and objectively, and success interacting with individuals and groups
  • History of support of cross functional teams to best meet the needs of the Company, region and plant.
  • The ability to provide motivation to the direct reports and demonstrate leadership qualities to all plant personnel.
  • Problem solving and sound decision making based on facts and statistical data are necessary to lead the plant.
  • Computer skills in PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • BA/BS in engineering or related study or a strong and significant background in plant operations management is preferred.
  • 5+ year's operations management experience.
  • History of working safely and a reputation for promoting and getting involved in safety improvement efforts.

  • Work in accordance with local/provincial legislation.
  • Understands and is accountable for full compliance with safety and other EHS requirements.
  • All candidates must have authorization and the ability to maintain authorization to legally work in Canada.
