Plant Engineer

Location: Morgantown, WV
Type: Direct Hire
Salary: $95,000 - $115,000

Position Overview

We are seeking a Plant Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement of a power generation facility. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams while leading reliability initiatives, troubleshooting equipment issues, supporting outages, and driving plant improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and material handling teams to gain familiarity with plant equipment, processes, and procedures.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve equipment reliability and performance issues.
  • Provide technical support and engineering guidance for plant operations, maintenance activities, repairs, and capital projects.
  • Assist with project development, contractor coordination, proposal evaluations, and project execution while maintaining budget and schedule objectives.
  • Participate in and lead root cause analysis investigations to identify equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Support outage planning and execution to ensure scope, schedule, and budget targets are achieved.
  • Implement predictive maintenance (PdM) technologies and reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor equipment performance trends and work with internal and external stakeholders to identify solutions.
  • Maintain assigned work orders and support continuous improvement initiatives across plant operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, environmental, and safety regulations.
  • Create purchase requisitions, work orders, and technical documentation as required.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies and methods to improve plant reliability and efficiency.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and technical training.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in power generation, industrial manufacturing, utilities, or a related industry.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, P&IDs, and operational data trends.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting power plants, utility operations, or heavy industrial facilities.
  • Project management experience.
  • Familiarity with reliability and maintenance programs.
  • Experience with one or more of the following:

    • AutoCAD
    • Maximo
    • Emerson Ovation
    • TapRoot
    • Intertek AWARE
