Cleaver Brooks is looking for a Plant Engineer/Maintenance Supervisor to join our team in Stratford, ON. This position is responsible for leading the maintenance team and ensuring all equipment, facilities, and systems operate efficiently and safely. This role also oversees compliance with environmental regulations, manages preventive maintenance programs, coordinates repairs, and leads continuous improvement efforts related to plant safety, sustainability, and productivity.

Salary/Wage Range: $95.000 - $120,000 CAD per year
Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance Oversight- Supervise maintenance staff, including scheduling, task delegation, and performance management.
- Develop, implement, and manage a preventive maintenance program for manufacturing equipment, HVAC, boilers, electrical systems, and facility infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and coordinate the repair of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Robotics maintenance
- Ensure timely response to equipment failures to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records using a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and OEMs for repairs, inspections, and installations.
Environmental Compliance- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal environmental regulations, including those related to emissions, hazardous waste, water discharge, and recycling.
- Maintain and update environmental records, permits, and reports as required by Ontario's Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP).
- Lead environmental audits, inspections, and corrective action plans.
- Promote sustainability initiatives and support waste reduction and energy efficiency programs.
Health & Safety- Support and enforce company safety standards and participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) activities.
- Identify and mitigate hazards in collaboration with the safety department.
- Ensure all maintenance work follows OHSA regulations and internal safety protocols.
Leadership & Communication- Train, mentor, and support the development of maintenance personnel.
- Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to support manufacturing goals.
- Lead root cause analysis for recurring equipment failures and implement long-term solutions.
- Participate in capital projects and infrastructure upgrades as needed.
Qualifications- Post-secondary education in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, preferably in heavy equipment or boiler manufacturing.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations in Ontario (e.g., MECP, Environmental Protection Act).
- Experience using CMMS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Assets- Engineering Background or Millwright/Industrial Electrician certification.
- WHMIS, Lockout/Tagout, Working at Heights, and other safety certifications.
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma practices.
- Knowledge of boiler systems and related pressure equipment regulations (TSSA standards).
- Autocad Skills.
Working Conditions- Primarily plant floor environment with some office duties.
- Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required for emergencies or scheduled maintenance.
Other Responsibilities- Participate in emergency response as required.
- Participate in emergency response planning and incident management.
- Support corporate initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
- Perform additional duties as required based on operational/business needs.
