JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Plant Engineer DATE: 8/12/2026

REPORTS TO: Director of Maintenance STATUS: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for operational excellence projects and activities at a complex manufacturing facility; champion projects and provide technical leadership. Will deliver significant process improvement and financial benefit across the complex.

DAILY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Manages high efficiency manufacturing initiatives throughout 1st and 2nd Processing areas, as well as maintenance and other support areas.
  2. Lead multiple process improvement initiatives to a quantifiable result in defect reduction, cost avoidance, loss reduction or revenue enhancement.
  3. Serve as internal expert on all projects.
  4. Recommend and facilitate quality and change management processes to align with strategic needs; identify company needs and key drivers to reach satisfactory expectations with predicted financial benefit.
  5. Implements policies and procedures to analyze production workflows and resource utilization to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, or waste.
  6. Liaises with production, quality assurance, and other support teams on new equipment installs, machine adjustments, and preventative maintenance tasks.
  7. Provide detailed and constructive feedback and reporting to Maintenance Director.
  8. Ensure all company safety policies and procedures are followed to ensure a safe working environment by also promoting, adhering to, and holding employees accountable to those policies.
  9. Attend leadership training, meetings and other learning and development opportunities.
  10. Effectively communicate with HR, departments heads, and other supporting department leaders if conflict or dilemmas arise.
  11. All other duties not listed but requested by Senior Leadership.


REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:
  1. MUST possess an Engineering degree with a minimum of five years' work experience in a related field.
  2. MUST have outstanding project management skills.
  3. MUST have proficient business and technical skills in areas of metrics development.
  4. MUST possess exceptional business knowledge and customer service skills to connect department owners to business processes.
  5. MUST be familiar with manufacturing plant efficiencies, and operational procedures.
  6. MUST have thorough knowledge of food safety programs, including HACCP programs, SSOP's and GMP's.
  7. MUST possess skills in communicating in a courteous and professional manner, both verbally and in writing to all team members.
  8. MUST have exceptional time management and prioritizing skills.
  9. MUST know how to effectively utilize a personal computer and a variety of software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and AutoCAD.
  10. MUST be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  11. MUST be able to pass required physical including demonstrating your ability to lift the required weight for each role.
  12. Ability to stand or walk for an entire 8-hour shift.
  13. Ability to reflect the values of our company in public settings.
  14. Ability to work flexible hours as needed.


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  1. Experience in poultry or other food processing plants is highly preferred.
  2. Certification in Six Sigma up to black belt is preferred
  3. Higher education in leadership, manufacturing, logistics, or a related field is preferred, however experience in lieu of an advanced degree will always be considered.
