Full Job Description
We are looking for a Plant Engineer who will play a key role by leading engineering projects and overseeing the equipment life cycle. This individual will be at the heart of the performance and reliability of equipment at a growing site, will be central to technical decision-making, and will have a direct impact on plant operations. Leveraging their technical expertise, the engineer will contribute to site compliance while supporting continuous improvement.

The Plant Engineer will have the following responsibilities:
  • Manage engineering projects end-to-end, from needs identification through commissioning;
  • Prepare business cases and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Participate in the development and management of the capital plan (CAPEX), including investment prioritization and tracking.
  • Define technical requirements and prepare User Requirement Specifications (URS);
  • Select optimal technical solutions for BMC and participate in RFP processes in collaboration with the Procurement team.
  • Coordinate the procurement, installation, and commissioning of equipment, and ensure a structured handover to operations teams, including training.
  • Ensure full lifecycle management of equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation and equipment files (URS, DQ, FAT/SAT, risk assessments, drawings, and specifications).
  • Support validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) and contribute to GMP compliance.
  • Provide technical expertise for facilities, utilities, and equipment, and support manufacturing teams to improve compliance, safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and resolution of equipment and utilities issues, including investigations, deviations, and reliability improvement in collaboration with maintenance team.
  • Manage consultants and engineering firms, including work supervision, review and approval of drawings and technical documents, and validation of deliverables.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and propose solutions to optimize equipment and utilities.
  • Promote and apply BMC health and safety practices.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and quality standards.

  • You have at least five (5) years of experience as an engineer in a GMP environment, within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • You have hands-on experience managing engineering projects, including requirements definition, selection and procurement processes, as well as FAT, SAT, installation, and start-up phases.
  • A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
  • You are able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in French and English, as several stakeholders are located outside of Québec.
