Responsibilities

  • Support troubleshooting of mechanical/electrical issues and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain accurate plant drawings and equipment documentation using AutoCAD.
  • Collaborate with IT and other teams for data capture and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
  • Develop or support training materials for operators and maintenance personnel.
  • Communicate project status and risks to stakeholders, managing schedules with project management tools.

Full Job Description
The Plant Engineer leads the installation, commissioning, and startup of new equipment, while supporting the ongoing maintenance, reliability, and facilities teams across Accredo's manufacturing plants. This role partners with Operations, Maintenance, Facilities, EH&S, and IT to ensure equipment is installed to specification, meets safety and quality requirements, and integrates effectively into building automation and production systems. This position does not own product specification development, vendor sourcing, or contract negotiation. It does serve as the project manager for equipment installation from planning through handoff.

Location: Sugar Land, TX
Travel: Up to 20%


Key Responsibilities
  • Manage installation, commissioning, and startup of new equipment, ensuring compliance with OEM specifications, performance guarantees, GMPs, and safety standards.
  • Coordinate and oversee outside contractors and OEM service teams; enforce EH&S and company policies.
  • Partner with Maintenance to develop preventive maintenance (PM) tasks, documentation, and CMMS (SAP) updates.
  • Support troubleshooting of mechanical/electrical issues and recommend improvements for uptime, safety, and reliability.
  • Maintain accurate plant drawings and equipment documentation (AutoCAD, manuals, layouts).
  • Collaborate with IT, MES, and ERP teams to connect equipment for data capture, reporting, and Industry 4.0 initiatives.
  • Work with Building Facilities on utility needs and building automation systems integration.
  • Develop or support operator and maintenance training materials associated with new machine installations.
  • Communicate project status, timelines, and risks to internal stakeholders; manage schedules using Gantt charts or project management tools.


Required Qualifications

  • Experience in flexible packaging, paper bag manufacturing, or high-speed converting operations.

  • Prior involvement in FAT/SAT, equipment acceptance, and performance verification.
