The Planning Manager I will lead the material planning team, ensuring that production schedules and material requirements are effectively managed. This role focuses on the strategic alignment of material planning with business objectives, driving efficiencies, and leading continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:- Execute material planning strategies to support production schedules and business objectives.
- Lead the review and approval process for quantities, schedules, and parts lists.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, production, and warehouse teams to align material requirements with production schedules.
- Develop raw material and scheduling requirements based on engineering specifications and production timelines.
- Maintain and improve process documentation and training plans.
- Monitor inventory levels and manage material movement to avoid production disruptions.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks in the supply chain.
- Mentor and develop the material planning team.
- Utilize Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)/Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems to manage inventory, procurement, and production planning activities.
- Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement in material planning processes.
Qualifications You Must Have:- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field of study.
- 7+ years of experience in operations or in a related field.
- Relevant experience can be considered as a substitute for the required educational qualifications. In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 11 years of related experience is required.
- Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
- Proven experience with ERP/MRP systems.
- Experience with the practical application of manufacturing, engineering planning, or inventory management principles.
- Basic understanding of materials management systems.
- Advanced understanding of MRP I & II principles.
Qualifications We Prefer:- Master's degree in a related field.
- Lean Six Sigma certification.
- Previous management experience; the ability to recruit employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence.
- APICS Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) Certification.
- Familiarity with contract language as it pertains to material planning inventory.
- ERP experience, preferably with Deltek Costpoint.
- Prior experience with Master Production Scheduling.
- Experience with Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) regulations specific to Materials Management and Accounting Systems (MMAS).
- Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, or US Military.
Essential Functions:- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly.
- Ability to work on a computer for extended periods.
- Requires standing and walking for a significant portion of the work shift.
- Ability to work in a noisy manufacturing environment.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Must be able to work in an office or hybrid environment.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $98,633.53 - $135,621.11. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
