Job DescriptionThe Senior Production Planner owns production planning and schedule execution for complex or high-mix programs within assigned value streams. This role develops and maintains executable production schedules aligned with the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and customer delivery commitments while coordinating cross-functional actions to resolve constraints and protect schedule performance.
The role proactively manages risks related to material availability, production capacity, quality holds, and technical issues, driving recovery plans and escalating issues when necessary to maintain delivery performance.
ResponsibilitiesProduction Planning & Scheduling
- Develop and maintain executable production schedules aligned with MPS and customer contract dates
- Sequence production builds based on delivery commitments, material availability, and capacity constraints
- Monitor schedule health and adjust priorities to maintain schedule stability and execution
Schedule Execution & Recovery
- Drive recovery plans for schedule disruptions including material shortages, quality holds, technical issues, and capacity limitations
- Coordinate cross-functional actions with Operations, Quality, Procurement, and Program Management to resolve production constraints
- Escalate risks through Tier 2 / Tier 3 forums with clear mitigation plans
Capacity & Production Flow
- Monitor production capacity constraints including testing, burn-in, seal windows, labor availability, and key production resources
- Balance production loads and identify bottlenecks to maintain efficient workflow
- Monitor work-in-process (WIP) flow and aging to ensure timely progression through manufacturing operations
Program Visibility & Communication
- Review and update program status regularly to ensure schedule alignment with delivery commitments
- Maintain visibility of material, WIP, quality, and technical issues impacting production schedules
- Provide clear program status updates and recovery plans for high-visibility programs
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Lead program-specific meetings to resolve schedule constraints and align recovery actions
- Collaborate with supply chain and operations teams to prioritize material, inspections, and production readiness
Decision Authority
- Production sequencing and build prioritization within assigned programs
- Delivery date adjustments (pull-ins or push-outs) with supporting recovery plans
- Escalation of program risks and recommended mitigation actions
Performance Metrics
- On-Time Delivery (OTD)
- On-Time to Master Production Schedule (OT to MPS)
- Past Due Backlog (PDB) reduction
- Schedule adherence and execution reliability
- WIP flow and aging management
Qualifications- Minimum five (5) years of experience in a specialized functional discipline. A Master's degree may substitute for two (2) years of experience (minimum three (3) years required)
- Advanced production planning and scheduling
- Strong Excel skills for data analysis, schedule tracking, and reporting
- ERP systems and data analysis
- Cross-functional communication
- Problem solving and recovery planning
- Data analytics skills (Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python) preferred but not required
- Applicable experience in lieu of a Degree may be considered.
Compensation: $83,805.32- $104,756.65
