Job DescriptionThe Planner I, Piping & Mechanical supports the development and execution of work packages for piping systems and mechanical equipment by applying established planning processes, tools, and standards. This role contributes to production readiness by defining scope, sequencing work, and coordinating with stakeholders while working under general guidance from senior planners.
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.What you'll do- Develop and maintain work packages and shop orders for piping and mechanical systems across various stages of construction (SOC).
- Review engineering drawings, 3D models, and vendor data sheets to define scope, materials, and sequencing requirements.
- Sequence manufacturing, assembly, and installation activities in alignment with production schedules and established planning guidelines.
- Implement engineering changes, including evaluating impacts, updating sequencing, and aligning schedules.
- Maintain accurate planning data in ERP and document control systems.
- Track and report task progress, highlighting risks, delays, and material constraints to senior planners.
- Participate in training opportunities to develop skills and gain knowledge of shipbuilding practices and planning systems.
What you'll bring- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent technical/trade background.
- 1-2 years of experience in production planning, mechanical or production engineering; shipbuilding or heavy manufacturing experience is an asset.
- Experience with piping systems, mechanical equipment, or industrial environments is considered an asset.
- Basic understanding of piping systems, mechanical equipment, and installation methods.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (IFS/Oracle), scheduling software, or Jira is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate across teams.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced, and constantly changing production environment.
- Comfortable working in both office and shipyard production floor environments.

The estimated salary for this position is $73,800
- $90,200. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate's skills and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company's sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
