OverviewThe primary role of this position will be to establish a strong planning presence in the DC metro area, manage and supervise project work, oversee remote staff assigned to projects, actively support additional hiring in the DC office and coordinate the technical and managerial direction regarding scope, schedule, quality, and budget of projects. This position requires sound financial management practices with ownership and accountability for financial aspects of our business lines. This position requires a passion for business development and fostering strong, collaborative client relationships.
Responsibilities- Work with National Civic and Commercial Market Leaders and Regional Office leadership to establish and implement a strategy for growing CED's Buildings footprint in the mid-Atlantic region.
- Maintain consistent communication with Market and Regional leadership and provide monthly updates on project and business development activity.
- Oversee planning and multi-discipline projects within the region, including responsibility for quality control/quality assurance.
- Lead and assist with business development efforts across the region, in collaboration with other regional leadership.
- Maintain and grow external client relationships. Specific metrics to be identified based on candidate.
- Assist with regional staff build-out to support the short- and long-term growth goals of the Buildings Division.
- Oversee the day-to-day activities of assigned staff, including but not limited to timesheet review and approval, performance evaluation and daily supervision (as DC team grows and expands).
Qualifications- A Masters degree in Urban Planning.
- AICP certification.
- Ten (10) or more years' experience leading planning projects with at least 4 years experience in undertaking business development activities.
- Experience with municipal clients - local, regional and Federal - required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be self-motivated but also willing and able to effectively work as part of a larger team to drive results.
- Ability to effectively perform as a key team leader (demonstrate collaboration and respect for others; contribute; lead by example, etc.).
- Ability to build collaborative relationships.
- Demonstrate advanced technical and non-technical writing, editing and proofreading skills.
- Strong project scheduling and management skills.
- Willingness to travel regionally and to surrounding states for business development and project development purposes.
- Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
Compensation: $145,000-$190,000 per year (depending on qualifications)
