The Opportunity
We are seeking a Pipeline Scheduler with knowledge and experience in crude pipeline scheduling to join our Liquids Pipelines Scheduling team. Based in Calgary, Alberta, the Pipeline Scheduler is responsible for managing the day-to-day planning, scheduling, and authorization of product movement on the pipeline system.
This role ensures contractual transportation commitments are met while optimizing system capacity, maintaining crude quality, and supporting safe, efficient pipeline operations.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the first point of contact with shippers and connecting facilities to resolve operational and commercial issues
- Process nominations and allocate capacity across the system
- Build and coordinate oil movement schedules to maintain ratability, crude quality, and safe, optimal operations
- Resolve moderately complex customer and operational issues within contractual, regulatory, and operational constraints
- Optimize system capacity using knowledge of system conditions, customer requirements, and market dynamics
- Administer and interpret pipeline transportation contracts, ensuring compliance with tariff provisions and contractual obligations
- Monitor and manage shipper positions and system inventories
- Provide daily instructions and coordination with the Oil Control Centre
- Analyze operational and commercial performance and provide insights to support decision-making and system optimization
- Develop and maintain relationships with shippers, terminal operators, and internal business groups
- Support continuous improvement of scheduling processes and systems
- Participate in emergency response preparedness through training and exercises
Minimum Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in a related field
- Minimum 6 years of related experience
- Experience with crude oil pipelines and/or terminal scheduling
- Strong analytical skills with experience using spreadsheets and related tools
- Ability to assess operational constraints and optimize system performance
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and operationally sensitive environment
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotations, including weekends
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of pipeline regulatory frameworks and tariff structures
- Experience with change management and continuous improvement initiatives
