Full Job Description
Reporting to the Team Leader, Stress Corrosion Cracking team in the Pipe Integrity Corrosion and Crack Threat Management Department, the person in this position is an Engineer/Technologist supporting a variety of pipeline integrity activities and projects focused on cracking within the company's existing natural gas pipeline systems in Canada and across the U.S. The Pipeline Integrity Engineer/Technologist assists with pipeline integrity program planning, pipeline failure investigation, excavation programs, procedures development, performs analysis, participates in studies and develops engineering standards and procedures related to pipeline integrity projects.

What you'll do
  • Address risk levels and regulatory requirements through tailored mitigation programs to manage the cracking threat for a pipeline asset group in the US
  • Administer / adhere to budget controls;
  • Track information streams and take appropriate action to address ongoing program risk indicators
  • Review, analyze, and conduct pipeline defect analysis utilizing direct assessment, in-line inspection, pressure test, and other assessment data to propose remedial or follow up actions;
  • Perform advanced quantitative risk analysis (likelihood of failure, consequence modeling, corrosion growth, etc.);
  • Perform Engineering Assessments to determine the continued safe operation of pipelines;
  • Develop and support excavation programs;
  • Interact with regulatory agencies and provide audit support as required;
  • Assist internal response to pipeline failures and root cause investigations;
  • Support project development, planning, and budget programs;
  • Assist the team in tracking and completion of work related to the expedited Engineering Critical Assessment program;
  • Other tasks as required.


Minimum Qualifications
  • 6+ years previous experience in the operation and integrity management of high-pressure natural gas or liquid transmission pipelines and or related facilities
  • Knowledge of 49 CFR Part 192, API 1163, 1173, 1176 and related industry standards
  • Knowledge of pipeline integrity management, in-line inspection tools (MFL and/or EMAT) and pipeline condition evaluations
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills are required for this position as typical projects utilize an extended project team from Field Operations, Field Specialists, Reliability Engineers, Business Development, Planning, Project Management, Drafting, Supply Chain, Communications, Information Technology and Gas Control as well as outside vendors, surveyors, third-party engineering, and installation contractors.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Four-year degree in a related Engineering discipline from an accredited University or College is required.
  • Registered, or eligible for registration in the immediate future, as a professional engineer
  • Knowledge of data handling / analysis and administrative automation
  • Knowledge of Canadian Energy Regulator Act (CERA), Onshore Pipeline Regulations OPR, and CSA Z662
  • 10+ years previous experience in the operation and integrity management of high-pressure natural gas or liquid transmission pipelines and or related facilities preferred.


This position requires candidates to:
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing.
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home.
