Pipeline Controller
Location: Chauvin

The Role

Reporting to the Chauvin Operations Supervisor, the Pipeline Controller is responsible for monitoring and controlling the safe and efficient operation of Gibson's Chauvin Midstream crude oil pipeline system.

What You'll Do
  • Control and monitor the operation of the Chauvin Midstream crude oil transmission system.
  • Monitor alarms for Chauvin Midstream facilities via SCADA and communicate these conditions to the appropriate field personnel.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance work with Pipeline Operations group.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to ensure allocations are met and appropriate volumes of diluent are secured.
  • Assist in operating tasks such as issuing permits and lock out/tag out of equipment.
  • Record production volumes for daily and monthly reporting.
  • Verify and enter daily production information in Synthesis accounting program.
  • Coordinate initial response for local emergency response.
  • Monitor quality of incoming and outgoing crude.
  • Orientate crude and diluent haulers delivering product to Midstream assets.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment and proactive approach to Environment, Health and Safety through participation in applicable EH&S programs and compliance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


What You Bring to the Role
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in a related field is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in pipeline operations, control room operations, terminal operations, or a related oil and gas operational environment is preferred.
  • Possess a general understanding of pipeline, terminal, and production operations.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Able to work independently within a team environment.
  • Able to work 12-hour day and night shifts on a regular rotation.
  • Experienced in working with SCADA systems.
  • Competent in working with Microsoft based programs such as Word and Excel
  • Possess general understanding of pipeline and production operations
  • Familiar with Emergency Response Plan procedures
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to respond effectively in time-sensitive situations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.


Working Conditions
  • The majority of work is performed in a control room environment requiring prolonged periods of sitting, computer use, and continuous monitoring of SCADA and other operational systems.
  • The successful candidate must be able to remain focused and make sound decisions in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment, including responding to alarms and emergency situations.
