Overview

Join our team as a day shift, full-time, Medical Physicist in Athens, TX.

Get to Know Your Team:
  • UT Health Athens is a 127-bed facility, including a 24-hour ED, designated as a Level IV trauma center and Level III stroke center; advanced diagnostic technology; 10-bed ICU; maternity unit radiation therapy center; and a stand-alone ED in Gun Barrel City.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate radiation treatments to ensure precise delivery and high-quality care for patients.
  • Address theoretical and practical problems of measurements of ionizing radiation under clinical conditions.
  • Calibrate radiation-producing and detecting equipment, including nuclear medical apparatus, and measure radiation output of treatment sources and generators.
  • Provide all necessary dose-calculation services for patient treatment and diagnosis using external, interstitial, intracavitary, and distributed internal sources, as well as consultation and collaboration services for other departments using radiation in any form.
  • Assist in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of innovative software and hardware technologies pertinent to Radiation Oncology.
  • Performs and/or assists in developing a Proforma to justify new Radiation Oncology technologies.
