Job Summary:
Treats diseases of the lungs and airways. Diagnoses and treats cancer, pneumonia, pleurisy, asthma, occupational diseases, bronchitis, sleep disorders, emphysema and other complex disorders of the lungs. Greater than 50% of the physician’s time is spent in a critical or intensive care setting.
Job Duties:
- Interviews patients to obtain information such as symptoms, medical histories, and family histories.Performsand/orinterpretsdiagnostic testsas needed.
- Diagnose and design a plan of treatment for injuries and/or illness.May prescribeor administermedications.Prepares, maintains, and reviews records that includepatients' histories, examination findings, treatment plans, or outcomes.
