Physician - Primary Care

Mazzoni Center | Philadelphia, PA

Position Summary

Mazzoni Center is seeking a compassionate, skilled Primary Care Physician to deliver high-quality, culturally competent, whole-person care to our diverse patient population. This role is ideal for a physician who is deeply committed to health equity, team-based care, and serving the LGBTQ+ community.

The Physician will provide comprehensive ambulatory primary care, collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary care team, and contribute to Mazzoni Center's mission-driven clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct primary care services to ambulatory patients, including comprehensive histories, diagnosis, treatment of acute and chronic conditions, preventive care, office-based procedures, and patient education
  • Deliver continuity of care and coordinate referrals to specialty or higher-acuity services as clinically indicated
  • Review external medical records and consultation reports to ensure seamless care coordination
  • Collaborate with front desk, nursing, and medical support staff to triage patient concerns and manage clinical communications
  • Participate in after-hours on-call rotation and respond to on-site medical emergencies as a BLS-certified healthcare professional
  • Maintain timely, complete, and accurate documentation in the electronic health record (within 72 hours of care delivery)
  • Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members, including nurses, behavioral health consultants, case managers, and mental health providers
  • Comply with all institutional, insurance, HRSA, grant, and internal quality measures
  • Participate in organizational and departmental meetings, case conferences, and educational sessions
  • Maintain required CME and licensure in alignment with state and board requirements
  • Precept and mentor learners, including advanced practice providers, and provide clinical supervision when indicated
  • Communicate proactively with the Medical Director regarding scheduling, licensure, reimbursement, and practice operations
  • Participate in peer chart reviews and provide structured, constructive feedback
  • Model professional, inclusive, and respectful behavior as a clinical leader within the Mazzoni Center community
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Education, Training & Licensure
  • Graduate of an accredited medical school and residency program
  • Active Pennsylvania physician license
  • Active DEA license
  • Board-certified (or board-eligible with plan to certify) in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Infectious Disease
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Experience & Skills
  • Required: Prior primary care experience
  • Preferred: Experience in gender-affirming care, sexual health care, and/or HIV care
  • Comfort working with electronic health records and basic computer systems
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and effectively with patients, colleagues, and community members
  • Deep commitment to Mazzoni Center's mission and to providing affirming care for LGBTQ+ individuals
  • Ability to contribute to an inclusive, welcoming, and collaborative workplace culture

Clearances

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of required background checks, including:
