DescriptionContract Family or Internal Medicine Physician OpportunitySouth San Antonio / Roosevelt areaWe are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Family Practice or Internal Medicine Physician to work on a contract (full-time) basis at our Roosevelt Wellness Center located in South San Antonio, where you'll care for a unique all-adult patient population of retired San Antonio Firefighters, Police Officers and their dependents.
This is an out-patient clinic setting with 30 minute and 1 hour appointment times. 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday. No late hours, no weekends and no call.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provides medical patient care by interviewing, examining, and treating clinical patients in order to meet their needs
- Educates patients on wellness, prevention, and early detection by providing materials and resources to the patients
- Determines which referrals are required based on examination and patient needs
- Determines level of urgency of follow-up, referral/consultation appointments
- Exercises final medical judgment in all issues of health care
- Prescribes medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients
- Orders studies, test, and ancillary services
- Documents all services in patient medical record in Elation
- Reviews on a regular basis long term cases that require ongoing medical attention
- Consults with Physician Lead, Director of Medicine, and other professionals on staff as needed regarding patient care, assessment, and educational issues
- Assists as needed in the resolution of complaints, requests, and inquiries from patients
- Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to federal guidelines and regulations
Requirements- Graduate of accredited US School of Medicine; MD or DO
- BC / BE (Family or Internal Medicine)
- Current unrestricted Texas license
- Current DEA Certificate
- BLS
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques
- Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper telephone etiquette
- Performs in a tactful and professional manner Experience with Electronic Medical Records
