Job Summary

Aptive is seeking a Health Systems Specialist / Physician Clinical SME to advise VA health informatics and modernization teams on clinical operations, healthcare policy, care delivery standardization, clinical quality, and enterprise implementation considerations.

 

This role will support clinical informatics improvement objectives by advising on best practices, clinical guidelines and standards, stakeholder alignment, workflow impacts, and implementation strategies that improve patient care and provider experience.

 

The ideal candidate is a physician or senior clinical leader with extensive healthcare executive leadership, federal healthcare, and EHR modernization experience.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Advise clients and program teams on healthcare best practices, clinical policy issues, clinical standards, care delivery improvement, and interdisciplinary healthcare considerations.
  • Provide clinical SME input for health informatics projects, EHR modernization activities, readiness initiatives, and implementation support.
  • Assess the impact of new technologies, legislation, policies, and practices on specialty care, clinical workflows, and enterprise care delivery.
  • Support development and review of business plans, clinical guidance, training materials, implementation checklists, performance metrics, and strategic reports.
  • Engage senior clinical leaders, program offices, informatics stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to identify priorities and align recommendations.
  • Facilitate clinical and operational discussions to standardize care delivery and support adoption of informatics-enabled solutions.
  • Identify clinical risks, operational dependencies, and opportunities for process improvement; develop actionable recommendations.
  • Support quality assurance review of deliverables for clinical accuracy, clarity, and alignment to client needs.
Minimum Qualifications

 

  • MD, DO, PhD, or other advanced clinical/healthcare degree appropriate to the role; physician background preferred for this KP-aligned requisition.
  • 8+ years of experience advising on healthcare best practices, clinical policy, clinical guidelines, interdisciplinary healthcare, quality, performance improvement, or health systems transformation; 10+ years preferred.
  • Experience supporting healthcare modernization, clinical operations, EHR implementation, clinical informatics, or care delivery standardization initiatives.
  • Experience communicating with senior healthcare leaders and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Desired Qualifications
  • Board certification in a medical specialty or senior healthcare leadership credential.
  • Experience supporting VA, VHA, DoD, DHA, or other federal healthcare programs.
  • Experience with VistA/CPRS, Oracle Health/Cerner, EHR modernization, high reliability, clinical contact center modernization, disaster response, or system-wide clinical strategy.
  • Experience standardizing clinical care delivery across large integrated health systems.
  • PMP, Lean Six Sigma, healthcare quality, clinical informatics, or related certification.
  • Excellent executive writing, facilitation, and briefing skills.
