Job Brief: Orthopedics PA
The Physician Assistant (PA) provides healthcare services that are typically performed by a physician and are under the scope of practice of that physician. Services are provided by the PA under the supervision of an appropriate physician listed with the Georgia Medical Board.
The PA is responsible for the following:
a)conducting comprehensive physical examinations and assessments
b)providing treatment
c)ordering diagnostic tests and may prescribe medications as approved by a physician
d)developing treatment plans
e)performing specifically identified office procedures
f)counseling patients
g)Surgical residency training or surgical experience preferred
The PA will clearly and accurately document all assessments, orders, procedures, treatment plans, and patient education/counseling in the hospital record according to hospital documentation standards or in EPIC/Healthconnect.
What You Can Expect:1.Evaluates, diagnoses, and treats orthopedic injuries.
2.Reviews patient's previous health history in HealthConnect and hospital records when available.
3.Orders medications and diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, MRI, and laboratory tests.
4.Collaborates with supervising physician.
5.Instructs, counsels, and educates patients about prescribed medications and therapeutic regimens
6.Physician Assistant in Orthopedics may perform minor office-based procedures if previously determined by Chief of Orthopedics to be qualified, trained, and have TSPMG approved certification credentials.
7.Performs consults and follow up visits with orthopedic patients.
8.Performs history and physical for pre-op assessments for patients undergoing surgical procedures, explains surgery/procedure and identifies any risks.
9.Responsible for discussing risks and benefits of procedures to be performed with patient.
10.Willingness to travel between medical offices as required for the job.
Minimum Requirements:- Certification as PA-C
- Certification obtained by passing the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination, administered by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- Current DEA
- Currently licensed or able to obtain licenses in the State of Georgia
- Current BLS/ACLS
