Job Overview

We are seeking a Physician Assistant to provide office-based care within our Acute Care clinical model. This successful clinic allows a 'same day/next day' appointments model for patients with urgent urological conditions. Most common diagnoses are: kidney stones, hematuria, infection, urinary retention, etc. The Physician Assistant will decide upon intervention and follow up needs in collaboration with the supporting physicians. Involvement in procedural care is available and encouraged.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate a high degree of general medical and urological knowledge and exercise independent judgment as appropriate
  • Assess the patient's medical conditions (Ex: kidney stones, hematuria, infection, urinary retention, etc.) by completion of a urological examination
  • Document appropriately and communicate with the appropriate physician in a timely manner as required, including, but not limited to: evaluations, treatment plans, progress reports, treatment notes, and other reports as requested
  • Order and evaluate laboratory, radiological and diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe, monitor, and adjust medications and devices based on the patient's medical condition
  • Develop and perform treatment plans in accordance with established protocols
  • Order physical therapy, occupational therapy and/or home health care as appropriate
  • Perform acute office-based procedures as trained


Requirements

Required License/Experience/Skills
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program
  • Licensure in the state of Virginia
