Responsibilities

  • Perform hospital rounds and document notes.
  • Order and conduct routine diagnostic procedures.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on assessments.
  • Monitor therapeutic interventions and adjust treatment as directed.
  • Participate in the surgical night/weekend call schedule.

Full Job Description
The Surgical Team is hiring a Physician Assistant to work Full-Time, 7:30am-4:00pm, 7:00am-7:00pm, or 7:00pm-7:00am.

Pay Range: $60.00 - $69.00 / hourly

Responsibilities:

The Surgical Physician Assistant works within a multi-physician inpatient hospital setting and provide first assist services primarily, but not limited to the General Surgery Service. Surgical assist may also be required for Orthopedic Surgery, Urology, GYN/Oncology and Vascular Surgery. Assesses patients; obtains comprehensive history and physical exams; performs hospital rounds and write notes; order and perform routine diagnostic procedures; order and interpret routine laboratory values, develop and implement treatment plans; monitor therapeutic interventions; provides instruction and counseling to meet the patient and floor staff needs as well as institute and change orders as directed by the supervising physician. This candidate will participate in the surgical night/weekend call schedule.

Job Requirements:
  • Currently licensed as a Physician Assistant in New York State.
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at the time of hire of within two (2) weeks after hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required at the time of hire or within three (3) months after hire.
  • AHA Stroke Certification part A required within one (1) month of employment; part B required within six (6) months of hire date.
