Responsibilities

  • Provide orthopedic care evaluations and treatments in both operating and office settings
  • Assist physicians during office hours with preoperative and postoperative instructions
  • Document patient encounters, medical necessity letters, and disability forms
  • Review and document patient charts preoperatively
  • Cover on-call schedules and collaborate with residents and other practitioners
  • Serve as a liaison for patient care between consulting physicians and the practice
  • Perform assessments and reassessments in line with departmental standards
  • Assist with research and post-operative patient hospital rounds
  • Engage in educational activities for internal and external stakeholders

Pay Range: $125,000.00 - $195,000.00 per year

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Location: RWJBH Rahway

Hours: Monday to Friday, 800 am - 430pm

Job Summary:
  • Physician Assistant will provide coverage with evaluation, treatment, and documentation of service for patients requiring orthopedic care in both the operating and office environment
  • Assists physician during office hours including nonop, preoperative and postoperative instructions for all orthopedic subspecialities within the practice
  • Provides dictation support and documentation of patient encounters, letters of Medical Necessity, Disability Forms, Discharge Letters and conduct patient calls/post-op calls
  • Reviews charts preoperatively and documents any pertinent information
  • Provides coverage with residents, fellows and other advanced practitioners covering provider on-call schedule
  • Liaisons between physician and outside consulting physicians regarding patient care
  • Performs assessment and reassessment of the patient according to applicable department standards and identified tools
  • Assists physician during hospital rounds with post-op patients and with research as needed
  • Participates in and contributes to orthopedic educational activities for appropriate internal and external parties
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Physician

Must haves:
  • PA-C Licensure
  • CDS, DEA, BLS
  • Ability to organize and achieve quality performance in a new and changing environment
  • Possess good working knowledge of scheduling and procedure prioritization to minimize delays and ensure completion of daily work schedule
  • Recognizes areas for improvement in divisional policies or patient care; initiates change; educate all involved in change
  • Passion and Experience providing empathetic patient care and exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization
