Full Job Description
This Physician's Assistant position is a critical component of CT Orthopaedics practice. The responsibilities include management of Orthopaedic patients. This position is responsible for evaluating and diagnosing new and existing patient conditions, pre-op and post-op management and surgical first assist. This position also works very closely with our operations team including the physicians. LOCATION & SCHEDULE • Trumbull and Fairfield, CT. • Monday-Friday. One weekend shift per month with comp time given during the week. Competitive Sign On Bonus! Essential Responsibilities: 1. Evaluate, diagnose, and treat new and existing patients' conditions 2. Provide medical services and advice for acute and chronic orthopaedic medical conditions 3. Provide surgical assistance 4. Establish patients' plan of care 5. Manage acute and chronic musculoskeletal medical conditions 6. Order diagnostic tests and interpret results of diagnostic tests such as x-rays 7. Write or dictate progress or other medical notes on patients' charts indicating patient status and treatment procedures performed, with each such entry to be signed and dated; ensure that all orders written by PA are followed by PA's signature and printed name of supervising physician 8. Conduct follow-up patient care 9. Provide health education to patients and families and participate in community health education 10. Supervisor and/or coordinate the activities of patient care and support staff within the clinical setting 11. Prescribe medications, including narcotics, controlled substances or class scheduled drugs with Supervising Physician's documentation in the patient medical record 12. Performs other duties as assigned by their supervisor Skills and Abilities: 1. Excellent customer service skills, interpersonal, and communication skills 2. Excellent documentation skills 3. Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office and experience with electronic medical record systems 4. Able to trouble shoot, strong sense of decision making and judgment; action oriented; approachable 5.
