Guided by our core values of Passion, Respect, and Excellence, the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide skilled therapy services that promote recovery and improve quality of life.

    Responsibilities for Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA):
    • Assist the licensed Physical Therapist in evaluating residents and implementing individualized treatment plans based on physician orders.
    • Administer therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, massage, traction, and therapeutic modalities, including heat, cold, water, light, and electrical stimulation, as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
    • Monitor resident progress and communicate changes in strength, mobility, endurance, coordination, gait, activities of daily living, and equipment needs to the supervising Physical Therapist.
    • Accurately document treatments, resident responses, and progress in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
    • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, therapists, and other interdisciplinary team members to promote positive resident outcomes.
    • Maintain professional competency by participating in continuing education, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
    • Support a safe, respectful, and therapeutic environment that promotes resident independence and well-being.

    Qualifications for Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA):
    • Graduate of a two-year Physical Therapist Assistant program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
    • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical Physical Therapist Assistant experience preferred.
    • Current CPR certification required.
    • Must meet the qualifications for a Physical Therapist Assistant under the Federal Conditions of Participation for Home Health Agencies established by CMS.
    • Current PTA license in the state of Virginia, if required by state regulations.
    • Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
