Job Description

We're looking for a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapist to join our growing healthcare team in Portland, Maine. In this role, you'll make a meaningful difference in patients' lives by developing and implementing individualized treatment plans that promote recovery, mobility, and independence. You'll work in a collaborative environment where your clinical expertise, innovative approach, and patient-centered focus are valued and supported.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including physical examinations, range of motion assessments, strength testing, and vital sign measurements to establish baseline data and inform treatment planning
  • Develop and implement evidence-based, individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's specific condition, goals, and functional limitations
  • Perform a variety of therapeutic interventions, including modality treatments, therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, gait training, neuromuscular re-education, and activities of daily living (ADL) training
  • Provide clear, empathetic instruction to patients and their families regarding assistive devices, home exercise programs, and self-management strategies to support long-term recovery
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, documenting patient progress, treatment responses, and clinical observations
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, healthcare team members, and other professionals to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care
  • Analyze patient outcomes and adjust treatment plans as needed based on clinical findings and patient feedback, demonstrating analytical thinking and commitment to continuous improvement
  • Mentor and provide guidance to Physical Therapist Assistant students, technicians, and other team members, fostering a collaborative and inclusive workplace culture
  • Participate in quality assurance initiatives and contribute to organizational improvements that enhance patient care and operational efficiency

Qualifications

**Required Qualifications:**
  • Physical Therapy degree from a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapy program
  • Current, active Physical Therapist license in the state of Maine
  • Current CPR certification (American Heart Association or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology
  • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and basic computer skills, including MS Office applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple patients and priorities efficiently
  • Physical ability to perform patient care duties, including standing, walking, and assisting patients with movement and positioning

**Preferred Qualifications:**
  • Recent graduate or early-career Physical Therapist (new graduates are encouraged to apply)
  • Experience with specialized patient populations (orthopedic, neurological, cardiovascular, or geriatric)
  • Knowledge of additional therapeutic modalities or specialized techniques
  • Experience with electronic health records and healthcare information systems
  • Commitment to professional development and continuing education
