Job Summary

Briarwood Medrehab is located at 355 Briarwood Circle, Building 4, Ann Arbor, MI 48103. We are a multidisciplinary outpatient clinic that provides physical therapy, occupational therapy services, and speech and language pathology services to individuals with impairments due to acute and chronic neurological and general rehab conditions.
We are currently seeking an experienced Physical Therapist to join our outpatient team that serves clinical populations in the area of neurologic and general rehabilitation. The Neurological Physical Therapist will provide direct patient care designed to restore and maximize function by utilizing evidence-based treatment interventions and while working in coordination with a multidisciplinary treatment team.

Responsibilities*

• Provide comprehensive physical therapy evaluation and treatment for adults with a variety of neurological and complex rehabilitation diagnoses in an outpatient setting.
• Develop individualized plans of care that incorporate patient goals, functional needs, clinical presentation, and current evidence to promote meaningful improvements in mobility and participation
• Provide skilled interventions addressing gait, balance, coordination, strength, endurance, motor control, functional mobility, and community participation.
• Apply clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice to manage patients with conditions such as stroke, Parkinson?s disease, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, vestibular disorders, and other neurological diagnoses.
• Use task-specific and functional training to help patients achieve goals related to independence, work, recreation, and participation in their communities.
• Collaborate closely with patients, families, physicians, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to support coordinated, patient-centered care.
• Educate patients and caregivers on diagnosis, prognosis, home programs, self-management strategies, fall prevention, and strategies to maximize function beyond the clinic.
• Monitor and communicate patient progress through ongoing assessment, documentation, and outcome measurement, adjusting interventions and plans of care as appropriate.
• Contribute to the development and growth of specialized neurological rehabilitation services, including opportunities for program development, clinical education, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.
• Participate in a collaborative clinical environment that values mentorship, professional development, interdisciplinary learning, and the advancement of outpatient neurological rehabilitation.

Required Qualifications*

• If licensed prior to 2016: Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy or basic MS.
• If licensed on or after 2016: Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy (DPT).
• Completion of an accredited Physical Therapy Program and Clinical Internship is necessary
• Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in the State of Michigan
• This position requires Primary Source Verification

Desired Qualifications*

• Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as a Physical Therapist, with at least 1 year in outpatient/ambulatory neurological rehabilitation treating patients with one or more neurological diagnoses, including but not limited to stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, Parkinson?s disease, and/or multiple sclerosis.
• Familiarity with outcome measures such as Berg Balance Scale, TUG, 10-Meter Walk Test, Dynamic Gait Index, Functional Gait Assessment
• Experience working with body-weight supported gait training
• Demonstrated experience with functional electrical stimulation (FES), including appropriate patient selection, setup, and integration into functional tasks (e.g., gait training, upper extremity re-education)
• LSVT BIG Certification
• Experience treating individuals with functional neurological disorders

Modes of Work

Work Schedule

This position is 40 hours. Clinic is open Monday-Thursday, 7am-7pm, Friday 7am-5pm. Some closing shifts are required.

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
