Job SummaryCanton Therapy Services is in the Michigan Medicine Canton Health Center at 1051 North Canton Center Rd in Canton, MI. We are a multidisciplinary outpatient clinic that provides Physical and Occupational Therapy services as well as Speech and Language Pathology for individuals with impairments due to acute and chronic neurological, orthopedic, pelvic health, spine, lymphedema, vestibular, and general rehab conditions. We provide a broad spectrum of care for patients and families requiring limited, one-time therapy services, to those who require complex episodic care. Our unique clinic provides a variety of specialized teams as indicated above. This specific offer will require the employee to work on the vestibular and orthopedic/spine teams.
Responsibilities*The employee is expected to provide direct patient care designed to restore and maximize function by utilizing evidence-based examination, evaluation, and treatment interventions all while working in coordination with a multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Interpret referrals and ensure necessary precautions are identified so that appropriate physical therapy evaluation and treatment can be provided.
- Develop focused individually designed treatment plans based on the patient?s functional goals.
- Utilizes independent clinical decision making to progress patients and modify treatment depending upon the patient?s needs and medical status.
- Monitor patients throughout the provision of treatment and respond appropriately to changes in patient status.
- Collaborate with a PTA to ensure continuity and quality of care
- Instruct patients and their families in home treatment programs
- Document patient evaluation, treatment and discharge status clearly, concisely, and in a timely manner.
- Stay current with best practices and continuing education in physical therapy
- Mentor students and residents
- May conduct research under the guidance of a Physical Therapy Director.
- May conduct special projects contributing to teaching materials and procedures used in physical therapy.
- Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications*- If licensed prior to 2016: Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy or basic MS
- If licensed on or after 2016: Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy (DPT)
- Completion of an accredited Physical Therapy Program and Clinical Internship
- Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in the State of Michigan

Desired Qualifications*- Experience with outpatient vestibular rehabilitative care along with health promotion and wellness of all vestibular related conditions including but not limited to the follow diagnoses:
- BPPV
- Vestibular Hypofuction (unilateral and bilateral)
- Vestibular Migraine
- 3PD
- Cervicogenic Dizziness
- Central Vestibular Disorder
- Vestibular Schannoma
- Acoustic Neuroma
- Post surgical vestibular rehabilitation
- SSCD
- Post Concussion Syndrome
- Experience with outpatient spine and orthopedic rehabilitative care along with health promotion and wellness of all spine and orthopedic conditions including but not limited to the following diagnoses across the rehabilitation spectrum:
- Chronic or acute disorders involving the spine
- Scoliosis
- Headache
- Fibromyalgia
- Joint pain
- Acute or chronic musculoskeletal injury due to a car accident, sport, or a fall
- Total joint replacement surgery, including but not limited to knee, hip, shoulder, ankle
- Post-surgical care
- Balance and falls
- A strong orthopedic/manual therapy foundation is desired when treating complex patients with multiple comorbidities.

Work ScheduleThis is a full-time 40-hour position. Clinic hours of operation are 7A-7P Monday through Friday requiring at least 3 and maximum of 4 closing shifts. Applicants must have availability to work within the hours of operation Monday-Friday. Currently, there are no weekend requirements.
Union AffiliationThis position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
