Marklund is seeking a highly motivated and mission-centered individual for the position of Physical Therapist. We currently have a full-time position available at the Marklund Wasmond Center in Elgin, IL. This position has a schedule of Monday-Friday varied days/hours. The salary for this position is $90,000- $93,000 based on qualifications and experience. Candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of the job and to meet its functional and environmental requirements.

Who We Are:

Marklund is a nonprofit organization that serves infants, children, teens and adults with serious and profound developmental disabilities and special healthcare needs. With three residential locations - the Marklund Hyde Center in Geneva, the Marklund Philip Center in Bloomingdale, and the Marklund Wasmond Center in Elgin, it is currently home to nearly 174 clients. It is a Day School offering Multi-Needs and Life Skills programs for children and young adults with multiple medical needs, and those diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum. It is a skilled nursing unit for medically fragile children and adults, and a developmental training center for adults who need assistance in managing their disabilities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Participate in the development of new programs and processes; individual and group treatment methods
  • Establish individual goals and treatment plans appropriate and unique to each resident and their level of function and potential abilities
  • Evaluate and provide creative therapeutic equipment for residents
  • Provide residents with orthotics as needed and monitor
  • Assist with wheelchair evaluation and/or modifications
  • Consult with residents, caregivers, teachers, family and Marklund staff regarding resident goals, outcomes, programming and resident needs in general
  • Attend IPP and IEPs as needed
  • Provide training and inservices to staff and caregivers on therapy related topics
  • Supervision, instruction and evaluation of therapy aides and interns.


Experience and Skills
Qualifications for this position:

Training and/or Experience: One year experience with DD population preferred

Education/Certification: Licensed Physical Therapist in Illinois

Equipment, Machines, Tools: Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, email), and various therapeutic equipment.
