Job Summary The Minnesota Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a Physical Plant Project Consultant to serve as the primary strategic infrastructure liaison during the phased closure and decommissioning of the Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF) - Stillwater.
This position evaluates physical plant concerns, manages asset preservation, reviews large-scale technical blueprints, and tracks capital project expenditures to ensure the safety, health and comfort of staff and incarcerated persons, and the physical structure is preserved.
This is temporary unclassified position that may last up to three (3) years during the phased closure and decommissioning of the Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF) - Stillwater.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position. Only applicants whose application materials clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for the position. To ensure accurate evaluation, your resume must clearly describe your experience in the required areas.
- Four (4) years' experience managing physical plant operations, facilities management, or construction management including developing and managing budgets and financial analysis. (Note: a Bachelor's degree in construction management, facilities management, or a related field can be substituted for one (1) year of experience.)
Preferred Qualifications The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position:
- Five (5) or more years' experience managing physical plant operations, facilities management, or construction management in a correctional environment.
- Program and project management skills, including planning and oversight of complex technical initiatives.
- Experience with short- and long-range planning principles.
- Knowledge of state purchasing and contracting laws, policies, and practices.
- Experience in analyzing and implementing end of life cycle initiatives within capital infrastructure.
Physical Requirements The completion of pre-placement physical components may be required for this position. These components may consist of a tuberculosis screening, commercial drivers license (CDL) drug test, and/or respirator clearance. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.
Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.
