Job Description
Supervise and direct the overall operation and maintenance of a large physical plant and office complex housing 1770 prisoners with a heating plant consisting of two large gas fired boilers 7,500,000 BTU each in building 200 that heats building 300 gym and school and building 100 office complex. Also included in this physical plant are five 1,850,000 BTU gas fired boilers that heat the housing units. Maintain standards of PERFORMANCE. plan, coordinate, and supervise through the assistant physical plant superintendent who instructs carpenters, painters, master electricians, equipment technicians, master plumbers, grounds maintenance and other trades people. Also responsible for the well pumps and water quality and chlorine content in a water treatment program.
Required Education and Experience

Education
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.

Experience

Three years of experience as a supervisor of two or more skilled building trades; i.e., building construction, alteration, maintenance, and/or repair, including one year equivalent to a Building Trades Supervisor 11.

OR

Two years of experience equivalent to a Power Plant Supervisor 11 or Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor 11. OR One year of experience equivalent to a Physical Plant Supervisor 12.

OR

Six years of power plant operator or maintenance mechanic experience, including three years equivalent to a Power Plant Operator 10 or Maintenance Mechanic 10; six years of building trades experience, including three years equivalent to a Building Trades Crew Leader E10; or six years of skilled trades experience, including three years of crew leader experience equivalent to the 10 level in state service.
