Full Job Description

We are seeking a proactive Technical Program Manager to join the Platform Precision Health engineering organization at Verily Boston.  Verily powers AI-enabled precision health solutions to accelerate research and improve patient care.

The Data Exploration & Processing team exists to Deliver best-in-class capabilities for data exploration, analysis, and processing within workspaces and data collections. Our portfolio encompasses several platform squads, which together own Scientification Computation, Apps and Computing, Workspace Foundations, and Data Delivery just to name a few.

In this role, you will partner directly with the Director of Data Exploration & Processing to operationalize squads, manage cross-squad domain migrations, track execution against KPIs, and coach teams on agile best practices. While operating in a complex, highly matrixed environment, your primary goal is to help build a well-understood, stable roadmap that enables our engineering squads to predictably deliver great working software.

In addition to squad work, this position will require TPM management of the Verily Workbench solution - an end-to-end, market-facing application or integrated offering designed to solve specific healthcare, research, or care delivery challenges by leveraging Verily’s core technology infrastructure. Verily Workbench is our enterprise-grade Trusted Research Environment (TRE) within the AI-native Verily Pre Platform. Workbench enables global biomedical researchers and data stewards to securely discover, collaborate on, and analyze massive, multimodal datasets while maintaining strict data governance, healthcare compliance, and advanced security. As a TPM for Workbench, you will play a critical role in driving the execution, scaling, and operational predictability of this foundational data analytics platform.

Who We’re Looking For

You are a highly collaborative, adaptable, and impact-driven program manager who thrives in a rapidly evolving, complex, and interdisciplinary environment. You spot operational challenges and fix them before most people knew that they ever existed.  You regularly set your own direction in the absence of requests, and your peers and leaders would call you a 5go-getter6. In a complex, multi-faceted organization, you can speak the language of software engineers, data scientists, and clinical informaticists, just to name a few and you have been known to build trust with these cross functional stakeholders, even from a distance, and have leveraged that trust to see the job gets done.

As an agile enthusiast, you don't follow a textbook framework; you understand how to gracefully apply agile principles to help product development squads gain velocity, clear ambiguity, and continuously deliver working software. You embody a 3people over process4 mindset, treating frameworks as tools to empower creativity and efficiency rather than as rigid checkboxes.

Importantly, you are an exceptional relationship-builder and influencer. In a cross-functional matrixed organization, you will inevitably encounter friction or process skeptics. You have a proven track record of working constructively with naysayers, leveraging empathy, objective data, and clear communication to gain alignment and guide teams to adopt standard processes that align with the broader organization's maturity goals.

Responsibilities
  • Drive End-to-End Delivery: Partner with Engineering Managers, Technical Leads, and Product Managers on many other cross functional stakeholders (Quality, Legal, Privacy, Security) to guide complex features from early concept and technical design to launch readiness verification and production release.

  • Agile Coaching & Refinement: Own and optimize sprint health and operational ceremonies for your squads. Act as an agile coach to cultivate a culture of predictable delivery, squad focus on sprint and quarterly goals, continuous improvement, prevention of scope creep, and robust ticket hygiene.

  • Organizational Change & Alignment: Act as a force multiplier by cutting through operational noise. Proactively engage with cross-functional stakeholders to bridge process gaps and establish consensus, guiding teams toward unified organizational workflows.

  • Manage Dependencies & Trade-offs: Ruthlessly monitor project health and manage the 4Iron Triangle5 of time, cost, and scope. Proactively flag blockers, track cross-team interdependencies, and map out clear mitigation pathways for leadership.

  • Metrics & Reporting: Establish and monitor team performance metrics and KPIs. Routinely synthesize execution progress and risks into structured status updates for senior leadership and directors.

What makes this job unique at Verily

This is a highly visible TPM role within Verily. You will often be relaying the health of the Workbench initiatives to VPs and SVPs within the organization. The Verily Workbench team sits at the core of our platform-as-a-product strategy, directly serving life sciences, government, and academic customer ecosystems. In this role, you aren't just delivering a localized software feature; you are orchestrating the infrastructure that empowers the global scientific community to train foundation models and deliver precision medicine.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor6s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 4+ years of relevant experience as a TPM, Scrum Master, or equivalent role driving software engineering execution.

  • Deep familiarity with agile software development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and work-tracking tools like Jira.

  • Demonstrated capability navigating highly interdisciplinary and matrixed cross-functional environments.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in Health Tech, Biotech, Clinical Research, or managing large-scale cloud data and analytics platforms.

  • Strong technical acumen with an ability to parse architectural designs, data workflows, or cloud platform mechanics.

  • Outstanding conflict-resolution, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills with a history of driving process adoption among skeptical teams.

  • Experience working on programs with strict data privacy, security, and healthcare compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA, SOC2, ISO 27001).
