Job Announcement

This position supports the Fairfax County Police Department's Photo Enforcement Program within the Traffic Division and reports to the Photo Enforcement Manager. Assists with the coordination and implementation of photo enforcement initiatives throughout Fairfax County, including collaboration with Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) on the School Bus Stop Arm Program, which is administered by FCPS and enforced by the Police Department.

Assists with researching, evaluating, and documenting photo enforcement technologies, industry practices, and program enhancements to support operational effectiveness and compliance with applicable policies and procedures. Responsibilities include providing administrative and project support, assisting with vendor coordination, stakeholder communication, site reviews, contract monitoring, and serving as a resource for assigned photo enforcement projects. Assists in reviewing project plans for compliance with established policies, standards, and legal requirements; monitors and reports changes in federal, state, and local laws related to photo enforcement; and helps identify and address program issues.

Additional duties include supporting coordination efforts with the courts, County Attorney's Office, and other stakeholders regarding legislative matters, regulatory updates, and the implementation of changes affecting photo enforcement programs.

This position performs in the assigned functional areas of general administrative support.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in the field related to the assigned functional area.
BRIDGE CLASS EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Four years of increasingly complex technical experience in the assigned functional area, comparable to experience at the Admin Assistant IV, or higher, level. This class can serve as a bridge class enabling individuals who do not meet the educational or professional experience standards listed above to qualify for this class by possessing four years of increasingly complex technical experience in the assigned functional area, comparable to experience at the Admin Assistant IV, or higher, level. The purpose of this bridge class is to promote upward mobility within the Fairfax County workforce. However, persons qualifying for this class on the basis of their technical experience may not substitute this technical experience for education, or for professional experience, in order to qualify for other employment opportunities.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience working with law enforcement.
  • Experience working with databases and/or recordkeeping software.
  • Experience researching, evaluating, and documenting photo enforcement technologies.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Be able to communicate clearly with others and is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, use hands and arms.
  • Occasional physical work requirements include the incumbent to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift, reach and carrying up to 40 pounds.
  • Physically mobile to conduct site visits while managing all FCPD photo enforcement projects that require numerous meetings with stakeholders, county agencies, architects, developers and construction managers from planning through project completion.
  • Sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • The incumbent must be able to operate keyboard-driven small office equipment such as computers, cameras, telephones, copiers, fax machines, laptops, scanners, tablets and mobile devices.
