Summary

The Trade Relations & Medication Access Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining strategic relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers, specialty pharmacy networks, wholesalers, patient support programs, and other external stakeholders while overseeing medication access initiatives that ensure timely patient access to specialty therapies. This position serves as a key liaison between the health system's specialty pharmacy, ambulatory clinics, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and patient support organizations to optimize specialty pharmacy performance, expand access to limited distribution medications, improve patient outcomes, and support organizational growth objectives.​

Job Description:

Baptist Health is looking for a Trade Relations & Medication Access Manager to join our Pharmacy team! This is a remote position for residents of KY and IN.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers and manufacturer representatives.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for inclusion in limited distribution drug (LDD) networks.
  • Coordinate manufacturer business reviews and strategic planning meetings.
  • Monitor manufacturer network requirements and performance expectations.
  • Collaborate with specialty pharmacy leadership on manufacturer contracting opportunities.
  • Support onboarding and implementation of new specialty drug programs.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for manufacturer-sponsored initiatives and patient support programs.
  • Evaluate opportunities to expand specialty pharmacy services and therapeutic offerings.
  • Collaborate with clinic leadership to improve internal referral pathways.
  • Identify barriers to retaining specialty prescriptions within the health system.
  • Support accreditation-related manufacturer requirements.
  • Oversee medication access workflows including:
    • Benefits investigation
    • Prior authorization
    • Appeals
    • Financial assistance
    • Patient assistance programs
  • Develop strategies to reduce therapy initiation delays.
  • Monitor access-related performance metrics.
  • Escalate complex access issues with payers, manufacturers, and providers.
  • Coordinate participation in manufacturer HUB programs.
  • Manage relationships with patient support program representatives.
  • Track available financial assistance resources and foundation grants.
  • Monitor specialty pharmacy business performance indicators.
  • Analyze referral leakage and capture rates.
  • Track LDD access opportunities and manufacturer engagement outcomes.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Doctorate of Pharmacy required.
  • MBA, MHA or related advanced degree preferred.
  • Kentucky Board of Pharmacy license in good standing.

  • Three years of ambulatory pharmacy, pharmaceutical industry, medication access, managed care, or healthcare operations experience.

  • Experience working with specialty medications and manufacturer programs.

  • Specialty pharmacy experience within a health system.
  • Experience with manufacturer contracting or trade relations.
  • Familiarity with URAC and ACHC accreditation standards.
  • Knowledge of specialty pharmacy economics, payer contracting, and limited distribution networks.
