Pharmacy Operations Manager

Location: Boone, North Carolina | Full-Time, Exempt | Monday-Friday, with occasional evenings, weekends & on-call

  • Compensation: Starting at $61.44 per hour ($127,795 per year), based on education and experience.

What You'll Do as a Pharmacy Operations Manager
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of UNC Health Appalachian pharmacy departments.
  • Partner with pharmacy leadership to meet financial targets and key performance metrics.
  • Provide oversight, direction, and support to the Director and pharmacy team members.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and take initiative to drive change.
  • Assist with human resource management and promote a positive, healthy work environment through clear communication.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, colleagues, physicians, leadership, and volunteers.
  • Support top-tier outcomes for patient experience, quality, and safety.
  • Adhere to UNC Health Appalachian policies, regulatory requirements, and standards of behavior, practicing within the scope of your license.

Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy required.
    • Master's Degree in Pharmacy required.
    • PharmD preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 3 or more years of clinical experience required.
    • Previous experience leading pharmacy departments required, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • Licensure/Certifications:
    • Licensed as a Pharmacist in the State of North Carolina.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Full knowledge of the pharmacist role and of pharmacy operations at the leadership level.
    • Strong communication skills; ability to work within the chain of command using positive verbal and non-verbal techniques.
    • Competence in delivering safe, effective patient care within the limits of license, certifications, and hospital policy.
    • Knowledge of the continuum of care provided in the patient care department.
    • Exceptional customer service for patients, families, staff, and physicians.

Physical & Work Environment
  • Prolonged sitting, standing, and walking, often 8+ hours per day; frequent bending, squatting, twisting, turning, and reaching.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30 lbs; manual dexterity and mobility required.
  • Frequent hand, finger, and wrist repetition; near visual acuity and close eye work; speaking, reading, and writing for extended periods.
  • Pharmacy and office environment.
  • Subject to occasional evenings, weekends, on-call, and emergencies as operational needs require.
