As a Pharmacy Manager, a caregiver in this role will oversee sterile compounding operations across Akron General Inpatient Pharmacy, Akron General Cancer Center and the Green, Bath and Stow Infusion Centers. The caregiver will provide leadership for approximately 30 caregivers, including infusion pharmacists and sterile compounding technicians, while ensuring compliance with USP 797 and USP 800 standards. Responsibilities will include oversight of sterile compounding competencies, annual training, fingertip and media-fill testing, cleanroom certification, compounding equipment and processes and quality assurance. The caregiver will also support operational excellence, regulatory compliance and professional development across all sterile compounding sites.

A caregiver in this position will work Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. The manager will participate in an on-call rotation approximately every 10 to 11 weeks and will have operational responsibilities for the program while on call.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:
  • Identify and meet patient needs utilizing continuous process improvement techniques.
  • Identify and propose practical solutions to technical, professional, personnel or procedural problems affecting daily workflow.
  • Ensure the department is adequately staffed with properly trained personnel.
  • Establish work assignments and schedules.
  • Participate in the development of operational and clinical program activities.
  • Promote and develop the clinical activities of pharmacy caregivers through counseling, training and teaching.
  • Train and instruct caregivers as to their duties.
  • Coordinate orientation and training of new caregivers in job functions and responsibilities.
  • Monitor financials and other pertinent statistics.
  • Assist with evaluations of financial performance.
  • Maintain records of narcotics, poisons, and habit-forming drugs received in accordance with state and federal laws.


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible within 90 days of hire
  • Completion of a health-system Pharmacy Administration or Leadership (HSPAL) PGY2 Residency OR four years of relevant pharmacy experience, including one year of leadership experience


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Pharmacy Degree with current state licensure
  • MS, MBS, PharmD and/or residency


Physical Requirements:
  • Physical demands include periods of standing and walking.
  • Dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions and communication via telephone.
  • May be required to lift and transport up to ten pounds.
  • Requires normal or corrected vision.


Personal Protective Equipment:
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
