Full Job Description
Position Summary

This individual is responsible for managing the implementation of the Pharmacy Information Systems in conjunction with other clinical disciplines involved in the project. This includes file building, coordinating testing, tracking all issues as it relates to the pharmacy information system, monitoring and managing application system support. Works closely with vendors, establishes systems and application security as needed, provides user support, and coordinates go-live activities as it relates to the pharmacy department. Serves as a liaison between the Pharmacy and the Information Services Department.

Primary Position Responsibilities
  1. Identifies and recognizes the needs of the Pharmacy Department and uses technology and/or automation to meet those needs
  2. Responds to the requests of IS Leadership, Pharmacy, Medical Staff, and/or Nursing Departments to make adjustments to the computer system following change management procedures in a timely manner
  3. Maintains accurate formulary in conjunction with clinical Pharmacy staff.
  4. Builds clinical rules and alerts into the Pharmacy system that meets best practices and standards
  5. Sets formulary defaults to be in compliance with established standards and rulings of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee
  6. Utilizes knowledge of clinical practice to integrate technology into clinical practice workflow. Analyzes the impact of information technology on clinical work practice, working closely with Pharmacy management and staff.
  7. Develops and maintains written manuals and FAQ files that clearly outline the functions of the Pharmacy information systems
