The UW Medical Center-Montlake Pharmacy Department is seeking a highly-motivated Pharmacy Finance Coordinator.

WORK SCHEDULE
• Full-Time / 40 Hours Per Week
• Day Shift

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
  • Develop business plans and financial analyses for UW Medicine Pharmacy, collaborate with UWM leadership on strategic planning involving pharmacy, and spearhead modeling related to pharmacy charges and reimbursement, cost and resources.
  • This position also acts as the gatekeeper for financial analyses involving drugs for the pharmacy department.
  • Assist with financial operations including Inflation Reduction Act, 340B Rebate model, and other regulatory impacts with financial implications to the department.
  • This position oversees financial analyses for all lines of business including inpatient and clinic administered drugs, retail pharmacies and contract pharmacies. UW Medicine Pharmacy provides inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services at 3 hospital campuses with 11 retail locations and 340B contract pharmacies.
  • This position reports directly to the Pharmacy Business Officer with a dotted line to the Enterprise Financial Officer.


PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Evaluate the financial impact of new and existing business opportunities including new payer and PBM contracts, new services, and new drug therapies in collaboration with pharmacy leadership and UW Medicine leadership as well as UWM Finance team. Business evaluation may be hospital specific such as the evaluation of a new clinic site of service and the impact on costs and reimbursement, or it may be at the health system level such as evaluating the feasibility of a centralized compounding center or the potential margin from a new payer contract.
  • Perform financial analysis for the President of UW Medicine Hospitals and Clinics.
  • Work closely with Pharmacy ITS team and Finance to integrate pharmacy data sources with other clinical and financial data to improve patient level clinical and financial data for use in Health System business planning.
  • Assist pharmacy staff and leadership navigating clinical and financial systems, for example providing demographic data for drug analysis or building demographic projections for use in clinical planning.
  • Develop the annual price increase recommendation including modeling potential price changes and the impact on charges and reimbursement.
  • Performs ad hoc reimbursement analysis for drugs and subsets of drugs as needed for decision making.
  • Develop routine and ad hoc pharmacy reporting from Pharmacy and Financial systems to assist in managing pharmacy operations.


DESIRED
  • Strong data mining skills and expertise in using Excel, Access, Powerpoint and other software is required.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume environment where great emphasis is placed on customer service and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to present analysis and recommendations to pharmacy team members and executive leadership as necessary.


REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting and 10 years of experience in healthcare finance in a multi-hospital health system with leadership and program management roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of pharmacy business planning and budgeting, financial reporting and analysis, and decision support.
  • Knowledge of hospital and pharmacy pricing and reimbursement methodologies including 340B considerations.
  • Experience working with executive teams and analyzing and interpreting complex data to executive teams for decision making.
