Job Description

The Department of Pharmacy at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Pharmacist. The successful candidate will:
  • Dispense, compound, admix drugs and other pharmaceuticals.
  • Provide medication counseling and reconciliation.
  • Review medication orders for safety and efficacy and then approves orders within our CPOE system to main medication profiles.
  • Review and approve Pyxis profile orders.
  • Administer oncology, TPN, and investigational drug solutions as needed.
  • Dispense controlled substances as needed and maintain files.
  • Participate in drug utilization review studies, QA, and PI programs.
  • Actively participate in new technologies and operational programs.
  • Maintain the records of Pharmacy.
  • Supervise technicians and support staff.
  • Report to Senior Pharmacists, the Director, and Associate Director of Pharmacy.
  • Provide in-service education to healthcare professionals on demand.
  • Rotate with medical teams and/or participate in specific medication management programs.
  • Be available for holiday coverage rotation and on-call/recall rotation as required.
