Pay Range: $149,200.00 - $188,100.00 per year

Job Overview:

The Infectious Diseases Pharmacist Specialist is responsible for providing all levels of pharmacy clinical services for inpatients and outpatients within the Infectious Disease clinic. This includes prospective audit and feedback, monitoring patient medication regimens, education, and other relevant needs as determined by the Infectious Diseases Department, Antimicrobial Stewardship Program and Pharmacy administration.

Qualifications:

Required:
  • Doctor of Pharmacy from an ACPE accredited school required,
  • Current NJ Pharmacy License required,
  • NJ Board Registration required
  • Two years of accredited pharmacy residency required.
  • BCIDP certification is required within 1 year of hire.


Preferred:
  • Previous hospital experience strongly preferred


Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for providing all levels of pharmacy clinical services with specialization in Infectious Diseases, for inpatients, and outpatients within the Infectious Diseases Clinic. This includes monitoring patient medication regimens and providing appropriate interventions, as well as supporting all aspects of pharmacy operations. Provide clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners. Suggests appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to medical staff as needed.
  • Moves forward the Department of Pharmacy's clinical practice and impact on patient care at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Support and participate in the goals of the organization's quality improvement, risk management and patient safety program to include but not limited to National Patient Safety Goals, Core Measures and HCAHPS medication related initiatives.
  • Serves as a resource to the department in the area of expertise as a resource to the department in Infectious Diseases by helping ensure drug treatment plans and drug therapies are safe and effective. Participates in drug guideline and order set development. Participates in and assists in conducting educational programs for prescribers, nurses, pharmacists, pharmacy residents, students and other health care providers.
  • Participates in the Pharmacy Practice Residency program as a preceptor and member of the Residency Advisory Committee. Assists with special projects as required.
