Examples of Duties Essential FunctionsDispenses client prescriptions in accordance with applicable State laws, rules and regulations.
Enters data into computer system.
Trains, advises, consults, and educates the staff and client population through scheduled seminars and educational opportunities to provide for favorable, cost effective, therapeutic outcomes.
Prepares reports and other types of correspondence; maintains files and records.
Maintains inventory and security of pharmaceuticals.
Serves as Prescription Assistance Program Coordinator.
Supervises and trains Pharm D candidates for schools of pharmacy.
Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesGeneral knowledge of County and Department policies and procedures; thorough knowledge of professional pharmacy theory, techniques, practices and procedures; thorough knowledge of the principles and practices in compounding and dispensing drugs and other pharmaceutical products; general knowledge in preparing reports and other types of correspondence; general knowledge in the use of standard office equipment and associated software (e.g. Patagonia Electronic Health Record, Gmail, and HCC Visual Pharmacy Program software); general knowledge of and in the use of the equipment required for the position; skill in accurately compounding medications and pharmaceuticals; ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form; ability to make arithmetic computations; ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages; ability to understand and apply governmental accounting practices in maintenance of financial records; ability to use the metric system; ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with clients, staff and other professionals.

Minimum Qualifications Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree with coursework in pharmacology, or related field and moderate experience working in a pharmacy, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special RequirementsPossession of a valid license to practice pharmacy in North Carolina.
Complete ICS, HIPPA and Preceptor training within six months of hire.
Valid driver's license in the State of North Carolina.
Supplemental Information Supplemental InformationNote: In accordance with State mandates and the Rockingham County Emergency Operations Plan, Rockingham County Health and Human Services staff from the Divisions of Social Services, Public Health and Integrated Health are required to staff emergency shelters during times of disaster. Please be advised that every staff person is eligible to be assigned to an emergency shelter or Emergency Operations Center.
The Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program is intended to encourage individuals to enter and continue to work full-time in public service jobs. Medical, Dental, and Vision InsuranceFor Full Time employees in a regular position, insurance is available and effective the first day of the following month after having worked for an entire month. The County currently pays 100% of the cost for regular employees working at least 30 hours per week. Dependent coverage is also available.

BereavementLocal Government Retirement SystemAll employees in regular full or part time position are required to contribute to the retirement system. Contributions are taken on a pre-tax basis. The current contribution amount is 6%.
Supplemental Retirement PlansNC 401(k)- Employees have the option of making contributions on a pre or post tax basis to a 401(k) and on a pre tax basis to a a 457(b) plan. Contributions will be matched by the county, up to 1% or their annual base salary.
