Full Job Description
DUTIES

Compounds and dispenses accurately and in a timely fashion all prescribed medications, drugs, and other pharmaceuticals for patient care, according to professional standards, state and federal legal requirements.
Provides advice on the dosage of medications and the most appropriate form of medications to Doctors, Nurses, Allied and Ancillary personnel.
Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.
Participates in training of inter-departmental personnel.
Adheres to department policies and procedures.
Supervises and oversees the work of pharmacy technicians, interns, students and volunteers.
Adheres to proper aseptic technique when compounding IV medications.
Performs monthly inspections on designated/assigned nursing units/departments.
Maintains appropriate levels of all inventory within the department. Places orders on nights and weekends when necessary.
Assists the Director with any special assigned tasks when asked.
Checks and when necessary replenishes all emergency boxes/trays when expired.

EDUCATION + EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate of a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy
Previous hospital experience preferred but not required.

CREDENTIALS + QUALIFICATIONS:
New Jersey Pharmacist License in good standing
