Full Job Description
Position Summary

We are seeking a Pharmacist Intake Leader to own the clinical, operational, and compliance integrity of Gifthealth's intake logic and workflows across all programs. This position plays a key role in supporting Pharmacy Operations, reporting to the Director of Operations and Process Automation, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, operational excellence, and compliance standards. This role partners with the Director and the Pharmacy Compliance department to design and confirm intake logic, builds intake workflows for new program launches, and works alongside the Automation department to continuously improve existing intake workflows. Intake Managers, who hold Certified Pharmacy Technician licensure, report directly to this role.

Key Responsibilities

Intake Logic & Compliance Design
  • Partner with the Director of Operations and Process Automation and the Pharmacy Compliance department to design, validate, and confirm intake logic for all programs.
  • Ensure intake logic reflects current clinical, regulatory, and payer requirements before implementation.
  • Serve as the pharmacist-level checkpoint for new intake logic prior to go-live.
  • Review and update intake logic as regulations, payer rules, or program requirements change.

New Program Launch & Workflow Design
  • Design intake workflows for new program launches, from initial prescription receipt through compliant processing, working alongside the Intake Managers for the specific program(s) launching.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (Operations, Automation, Compliance, Engineering) to ensure new workflows are launch-ready.
  • Document new workflows clearly for use by Intake Managers and Intake Specialists.

Workflow Optimization & Automation Coordination
  • Continuously assess existing intake workflows to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Coordinate with the Automation department to translate workflow improvement opportunities into automation logic and system enhancements.
  • Partner with QA and Automation teams to validate that workflow changes perform as intended after implementation.

Clinical & Operational Subject Matter Expertise
  • Serve as the pharmacist-level subject matter expert for intake-related clinical questions across programs.
  • Support Intake Managers and Intake Specialists with clinical guidance on complex or escalated intake scenarios.
  • Stay current on pharmacy management systems, adjudication logic, and industry best practices relevant to intake operations.

Team Leadership & KPI Management
  • Directly manage the Intake Managers across all programs, providing leadership, coaching, and performance support.
  • Partner with each Intake Manager to monitor intake KPIs and drive improvements in speed, accuracy, and throughput.
  • Ensure intake SLAs are consistently met across all programs, providing guidance and escalation support where needed.
  • Provide clinical and regulatory guidance to Intake Managers on complex or escalated intake scenarios.
  • Ensure intake processes across all programs remain compliant with Federal and Ohio pharmacy regulations and HIPAA requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with the Director of Operations and Process Automation on intake strategy and priorities.
  • Partner with Pharmacy Compliance to ensure intake logic and workflows meet regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with the Automation department on system-level workflow enhancements.
Qualifications
  • Education: Pharm.D. or B.S. in Pharmacy.
  • Licensure/Certification: Active Pharmacist license in Ohio, in good standing, required.
  • Experience: Experience utilizing multiple pharmacy management systems; comfortable managing and developing a team, including team members holding Certified Pharmacy Technician licensure.
  • Skills:
    • Strong operational excellence mindset; able to identify inefficiencies and drive practical, workable improvements.
    • Systems thinking, with the ability to design and evaluate intake logic and workflows end-to-end.
    • Clinical judgment, applying pharmacist-level expertise to operational and compliance decisions.
    • Cross-functional communication, working fluently with Compliance, Automation, Engineering, and Operations.
    • Preferred: experience with intake, adjudication, or prior authorization workflows.
    • Preferred: experience partnering with compliance or regulatory teams on clinical workflow design, and working with or alongside automation/RPA teams.
    • Preferred: familiarity with BestRx or similar pharmacy management systems.

Key Essential Functions

  • Must be able to maintain focus and quality standards under high workload.
  • Must be able to work onsite in Columbus, OH.
