Description:

The Pharmacist-In-Charge (PIC) will oversee all pharmacy operations and ensure the highest standards of patient care and regulatory compliance. This pivotal role requires exceptional leadership, a deep understanding of pharmacy practice, and a commitment to ethical conduct. The ideal candidate will be a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) with a proven track record in pharmacy management and workflow optimization. You will be instrumental in fostering a culture of quality assurance, patient education, and exceptional customer service within our pharmacy. This is an exempt position that reports directly to Store Director and Director of Pharmacy.

Qualifications & Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Pharm D.
  • Current Pharmacist license in good standing.
  • A valid driver's license.

  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a retail environment.


Preferred Skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Retail Pharmacy Software and POS (Point of Sale) systems.
  • Experience in training and developing pharmacy technicians and other support staff.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive leadership and direct supervision of all pharmacy staff, ensuring adherence to professional standards and ethical conduct.
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of pharmacy operations, including medication dispensing, immunizations, inventory management, and workflow optimization.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing pharmacy practice and drug distribution.
  • Answers questions and provides information to pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage and storage of pharmaceuticals.
  • Completion of ongoing training and development as listed in Learn Something.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in accordance with privacy regulations.
  • Implement and maintain robust quality assurance programs to guarantee the accuracy and safety of all dispensed medications.
  • Develop and deliver effective patient education and counseling on medication use, potential side effects, and therapeutic outcomes.
  • Manage pharmaceutical inventory, including ordering, receiving, and maintaining appropriate stock levels to meet patient needs.
  • Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and the disposal of hazardous waste drugs.
  • Resolve complex patient and operational issues through effective problem-solving and critical thinking.
  • Participate in all interviews to hire the highest quality applicants.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and professional development among pharmacy personnel.
  • Provide effective coaching, corrective actions, and performance evaluations to improve individual and team performance.
  • Address employee relations issues and if needed effectively work with store leadership and the Human Resource team to resolve issues.
  • Maintain open communication with Store Director and the Director of Pharmacy regarding any issues, concerns, or happenings in the department.
  • Resolve customer complaints in a professional manner.
  • Know, comply with, and ensure the team complies with the all-health regulations, sanitation guidelines and safety procedures for your department and your store. Ensure premises are always in a satisfactory state of cleanliness.
  • Know and implement the Cosentino Customer Service Standards.
  • Support your company by completing additional tasks identified by management, assisting other stores, or departments as needed and gaining new skills when necessary.


Physical Requirements

  • Mobility: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on hard surfaces (tile/concrete).
  • Lifting & Handling: Reach overhead and twist; lift up to 15 lbs. with both hands.


Occasionally lift and carry up to 5lbs to the height of 34 inches.

  • Flexibility: Bending and squatting, occasionally to floor level.
  • Additional (Non-essential): Ability to climb a ladder up to 15 ft.
