The state supported living centers serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are medically fragile or who have behavioral problems. The centers provide campus-based direct services and supports at 13 centers located throughout the state. The staff pharmacist performs technical, clinical and consultative pharmacy services for San Angelo State Supported Living Center. These include DUR functions, dispensing functions, creating and maintaining records of services performed, participating in the drug inventory control system. The staff pharmacist reports directly to the Pharmacy Director and supervises pharmacy technicians in the absence of the Pharmacy Director. Essential Job Functions (EJFs): Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned. Interprets provider's orders, screening for possible interactions, polypharmacy and/or allergies (i.e., performs DUR). ( Dispenses correct medications to the individuals residing at the facility using clinical skills to promote patient safety. Assists the Pharmacy Director in supervising the dispensing of drugs and directs activities involving pre-packaging, ordering, receiving, and properly storing drugs and supplies. Also, supervises the pharmacy technicians (in the absence of the Pharmacy Director) and ensures Pharmacy compliance with TSBP Laws and Regulations. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to answer drug information questions and performs interventions as needed. Participates in the completion of weekly routines including checking weekly carts, cart update fill, refills, checking weekly narcotic orders and updates, and process furlough medications. Maintains proper inventory management control. Utilizes computer skills to efficiently complete job tasks Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): Knowledge of principles and techniques used in pharmacy Knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to the practice of pharmacy Knowledge of psychiatric pharmacotherapy Skills in the operation of applicable pharmacy computer software Skills in reviewing and interpreting laboratory reports Skills in written and oral communication Skills in using a personal computer, email, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and office equipment Ability to prepare and maintain detailed records, files, and reports Ability to type accurately based on work requirements Ability to review medication orders for safety and accuracy Ability to maintain effective working relationships Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications: Must be currently licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of Texas, and this license must be displayed in a prominent place in the pharmacy. Valid unrestricted Texas Pharmacist license that is current Initial Screening Criteria: Experience in pharmaceutical work. Graduation from an accredited school of pharmacy of a recognized college or university Additional Information: Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
