Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Pharmacist Certified Oncology Services you will provide critical clinical and operational oversight within a specializedhematology/oncology clinic, directly contributing to optimizedpatient care. This role focuses on the safe, efficacious, and cost-effective delivery of complexchemotherapyand infusion medications, including ancillary treatments, as an expertOncology Pharmacistin a highly specialized setting.

Every day you will deliver comprehensiveclinical pharmaceutical services, demonstrating expert judgment and adhering to professional standards. Your responsibilities include meticulousmedication dispensing, thorough patient counseling, and rigorousdrug therapy monitoring. You'll also guide subordinate activities, ensuring smoothpharmacy operationsand strict compliance with all established protocols andBoard of Pharmacy regulatory requirements.

Your success requires an unwavering commitment topatient safety, exceptional diagnostic abilities indrug therapy management, and the capacity to navigate a highly regulated environment. Sound judgment, effective staff coordination, and adherence to allpharmaceutical regulationsspecific to oncology care are paramount.

  • Monitors therapy, consults with providers, educates clients and healthcare teams, provides accurate patient-specific drug information, and continually works to improve clinical care and systems.
  • Performs all distributive functions including physician order interpretation, EMR entry, therapy monitoring, IV admixture, checking technician activity, monitoring delivery systems, computer operation, and stock controls.
  • Counsels and educates patients/customers on medication information, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective medication therapy in accordance with policies, procedures, and all applicable Federal and State Laws.
  • Interprets, accurately enters/verifies, labels, and dispenses medication orders/prescriptions in a timely manner, checking for drug interactions and appropriateness.
  • Communicates drug information to patients and health professionals, resolves drug-related problems by consulting with healthcare professionals, clarifies unclear orders, and assists in appropriate drug selection and therapeutic regimens.
  • Provides comprehensive pharmacy services and care to all patients serviced by an outpatient oncology pharmacy area.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Bachelor of Science or PharmD from an accredited school of pharmacy
  • Active State Pharmacist License in good standing in the state in which the employee works: PHARM:XX
  • Board Certification in a Pharmacy Specialty, based on the specialty title under which the employee works
  • BCPS for Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist
  • BCACP for Ambulatory Care Pharmacy
  • BCSCP for Compounded Sterile Preparations Pharmacy
  • BCOP for Oncology Pharmacy

Preferred

  • 2 years of oncology pharmacy experience
