Duties

Help

• Lead development and implementation of personnel security policies to ensure sustained compliance
  and strengthen organizational effectiveness.
• Provide precedent-setting personnel security guidance and adopts techniques shaping long-term requirements; recommends command policies, directives, and implementation guidance.
• Maintain security clearance records and conducts independent reviews for all personnel with classified access.
• Manage and track personnel security clearance data; evaluates incoming clearances and conducts required periodic reviews.
• Ensure background investigations are properly initiated, scoped, assigned, reviewed, and adjudicated.
• Reviews and analyzes derogatory information received on personnel from various sources.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance or access. A pre-employment and recurring comprehensive background investigations are required.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
• Position is designated Mission Essential in accordance. Incumbent is required to report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, and other emergency situations as directed by the Supervisor and/or Local Command Policy.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes adjudicating complex personnel security clearances for a multi-layered, geographically dispersed organization; coordinating investigations of applicants and employees to ensure they meet security standards; and overseeing compliance with personnel security procedures and requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
