Description

The Personnel Security Specialist IV provides adjudication support for Federal Adjudicators to make suitability and national security recommendations in accordance with the relevant Executive Orders (E.O.s), U.S. Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs), and the policies, orders, and guidelines with the understanding that final suitability and national security determinations are made by appropriate Federal Adjudicators.

Duties and Skills :

  • Expert knowledge of, and adherence to, government policies and regulations governing security suitability and eligibility, including Federal Investigative Standards (FIS), Executive Orders (E.O.) 12968, 13526, and 10450, Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs), Security Executive Agent Directives (SEADs), Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) 704, and other applicable guidelines to support adjudication recommendations.
  • Manage the review of systems, databases, responses to security questionnaires, Reports of Investigation (ROI), law enforcement records, incident reports, and other security-related source information containing personal history data to make suitability, eligibility, and adjudication recommendations or determinations.
  • Make recommendations in accordance with applicable regulations regarding whether an applicant meets the requirements for employment in sensitive or non-sensitive positions and complies with all relevant adjudicative guidelines.
  • Assist in implementing operational policies, procedures, programs, and standards to ensure the effective administration of Trusted Workforce initiatives, including Continuous Evaluation (CE), Continuous Vetting (CV), and RAPBACK programs.
  • Assist federal staff with the development, implementation, and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Implement existing security directives and provide recommendations for resolving unique and complex security issues by coordinating with senior security specialists, developing solutions, and preparing follow-up communications.
  • Contribute to initiatives that improve functional processes, operational efficiency, and automated workflow systems within the organization.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to a team of specialists by reviewing work products, conducting quality assurance audits, delivering training on new and existing processes, and managing team caseloads.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact (POC) for operational requests, team reporting, customer inquiries, customer follow-up activities, and participation in operational meetings.
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of case processing systems, procedures, requirements, and security adjudication practices.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all case types and their unique processing requirements to ensure timely and accurate case management.

The salary for this position is between $100,000 - $102,000.

Requirements

Education / Certifications:
  • High School Diploma
  • Must have an active Top-Secret clearance

Experience Requirements:
  • Must have 6 years of personnel security experience
  • Proven experience in rendering adjudicative decisions or recommendations
  • Must have excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office, etc., excellent written and oral communication, risk-management and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to learn and use specific government/customer systems such as Information Security Management System (ISMS).

Physical Demands:

Work is performed in an office environment. Required to stand, walk and sit; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone. Required to use a computer throughout the work.
