Full Job Description
The St. Paul Park refinery is hiring for a Personal Safety Professional. The successful candidate wil be the primary safety resource for an operations area team. The Safety Professional is responsible for a wide range of safety activities including regulatory and company interpretation of Safety standards, conducting safety training, auditing and implementing applicable corrective actions. The candidate should be familiar with OSHA standards. This position reports to the Refinery Personal Safety Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide technical safety support for operations, projects, turnarounds, construction, and emergency response.
• Serve as the primary safety resource for assigned operations areas.
• Assess safety risks and develop mitigation plans to address identified hazards.
• Support the development and implementation of safety programs and procedures.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned safety programs and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct field and program audits to verify compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
• Lead and support near-miss, incident, and injury investigations and track corrective actions to completion.
• Review work permits, LOTO, and work-control processes to identify deficiencies and drive improvements.
• Provide safety input into projects, Management of Change, work plans, and operating procedures.
• Develop and deliver safety training and communications in collaboration with Operations and Learning & Development.
• Partner with contractors to communicate safety expectations and support Company safety objectives.
• Partner with employees and supervisors to identify hazards and safely complete work.
• Support refinery emergency response as part of the Incident Command structure.
• Support compliance with OSHA, regulatory requirements, and MPC standards.
• Participate in rotational on-call responsibilities, including weekends and holidays, as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School diploma or GED required with 2 years of relevant experience or Bachelor's degree in HES related field with no relevant experience
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products and the ability to develop competence in additional software (e.g. PowerBI, Survey Gizmo, Microsoft Forms)
• Working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements
• Ability to identify safety related hazards and work as an independent problem solver
• Capable of managing conflict in the work environment
• A valid driver's license and TWIC license is required upon hire
